A visit to Fort Fenestre high in the mountains of Italy

As we drove to our destination on Day 3, we passed a herd of cattle, the farmer driving them along with a stick. The large clonking bells dangling around the cow's  necks, rang a beautiful sound through out the bus.

On arrival at the fort, the bus driver deftly turned the bus around on the slippery slopes.

As you can see, the snow was picturesque.

We were surrounded in steep mountains. The fort was previously a strategically placed blockage during italian and french disagreements about land.

We waited for what seemed like ages, in the freezing weather for the guide to arrive. She spoke french with a strong italian accent. …… was quite impossible for me to understand.

We took a quick break inside the warmth of the restaurant for a hot drink. I grabbed the opportunity to enjoy another beautiful italian cappuccino.

The chef was preparing some gnocchi. He allowed me to take a snap.

A lovely lady was preparing a chocolate gateau.

The view from the mountainside fort was magic.

Do you think that the students were impressed by the view. I think that living in the mountains, they are quite oblivious to their environment.

I, on the other hand, was quite …..   …….   well   …..   happy.
