Highway to Heaven

How lucky was I to get a front row seat of the bus????

The countryside was beautiful and I had prime position!!!

The open gorge was stunning. Little country-side villages perched on cliff edges and nestled into cosy nooks.

A lake with willows adorning the edges was pointed out to us. It was the lake that the famous Jacques Cousteau dived in to measure its depth. it is also a haven for english campers.

The students were very subdued in the bus. This was in sharp contrast to the return trip; they sang, shouted, cackled and were so noisy that they had to be told," Doucement!" "Gently!"

After a quick pee wee stop in the last french town called, Briançon, the bus began its winding ascent into the mountains. The trees had already lost all their leaves.

The mountain chalets in the picturesque mountain resort were exquisite.

Snow was thick and blanketed the ground.

Lunch stop was somewhat brief, as we dined picnic- style outside  a bar. It had a brilliant name!

After gratifying their tummies, the students clambered back onto the bus to keep cosy and warm, whilst the teachers popped for into a café for a quick coffee.

I will finish this post on my blog with a very smug smile;e on my face, as I fondly remember the absolutely wonderful cappuccino. It was italian, delicious and perfect.
